Class Teacher: Mrs Hewitt
Teaching Assistants: Miss Lumb, Mrs Cooklin and Mrs Whyte.
I am delighted to welcome you and your children to Birch Class for an exciting year ahead. This year, Birch Class is made up of 28 wonderful children across both Year 1 and Year 2, creating a happy, supportive and inclusive learning environment where everyone can thrive.
To ensure that all children receive teaching tailored to their age group and stage of learning, pupils in both Birch Class and Hazel Class will come together and split into single-year groups for parts of the school day. I will be teaching the Year 1 curriculum, while Mr Palmer will teach the Year 2 curriculum, allowing all children to benefit from focused learning experiences that meet their individual needs.
We are looking forward to building on the wonderful experiences from Reception and taking the next steps in the children's learning journey here at Malpas Alport.
In Year 1, our aim is to challenge ourselves, develop independence and grow into confident learners who are able to work well both independently and as part of a team. We will celebrate achievements, big and small, encourage curiosity and support one another as we work towards being the very best we can be.
Most importantly, we will have lots of fun along the way! Each day will be filled with exciting opportunities to learn, explore, discover new things and develop new skills in a happy and supportive environment.
I am really looking forward to watching the children flourish throughout the year, developing their confidence, exploring new ideas, making new friendships and creating lots of wonderful memories together in Birch Class.
