Welcome to Birch! Our class has 24 wonderful children who are eager to learn and develop new skills independently and as part of a team.
Our aim in Year 1 and Year 2 is to challenge ourselves during our learning journey here at Malpas Alport as we work towards being the best that we can.
Please check out the Key Stage One Newsletter in the 'files' section below for additional class information.
We are currently working on Cycle B of our Y1/2 curriculum.
English
We start Summer Term off with the book "Toys In Space" and will then move onto "goldilocks and the One Bear" as our key literacy texts. We will be learning and developing a range of skills to expand our literacy knowledge further through story writing, non-chronological reports and descriptive writing.
Maths
The children will continue to follow the whole school Power Maths Programme, focusing on the units in Texbook C. Year 1 will be learning about basic multiplication, division and fractions. They will also be looking at time and money. Year 2 will be working on statistics, fractions and time. They will also be looking at time and measurement.
